Talk to Core Members about Transition and possible future projects. Join us to help make our community more sustainable for the future.

Market Crier in Victorian dress. Advertising Wassail, flyers available
Wassail start 5.00pm
5.00pm - 6.30ish Old Farmhouse Pub followed by Community Orchard via lantern lit procession.
Songs from Barley Rye Chir followed by procession, wassail around oldest tree in the orchard, wassail songs and ending with mummers play back at the pub.
Take mugs, wear wellies or stout shoes, take noise maker and lantern.

January 2015
Wassail was held on Old Twelfth Night, Saturday 17th January. Starting with a traditional St George  puppet Mummers Play at The Old Farmhouse Pub in Nailsea, followed by a lantern light procession to the oldest tree in the tiny community orchard off Trendlewood. Then songs by Barley Rye Choir and a local traditional wassail with Butler and Green Man pouring some of the local Nailsea cider made from apples pressed at the Apple Day last October.

Apple Day at the Nailsea Tithe Barn followed by Cider and Adge Night
TTN organised an afternoon apple scratting, pressing and juice collection. Lots of donated apples, thanks to all who brought in their spare apples.
Friends of the Tithe Barn then organized an evening of film, folk music and food; with bar.

There was bulb planting at Golden Valley bridleway on 13th October from 2pm until 4pm.

August 2012

TTN began the process of applying to The Woodland Trust for young saplings to form a Diamond Jubilee Copse at Gaulacre. This first on-site project will involve all 'Stakeholder' groups at Gaulacre. These are: Transition Town Nailsea, the Allotment Association, the Rugby Club and the Nailsea Town Council.

July 2012

During June and July, there was ongoing work on Gaulacre including completing the Feedback Questionnaire and attending public/council meetings. TTN's Proposal was included in all Options and is in the final Preferred Option.

June 2012

We began planning this year's Nailsea Apple Day, which will be held at the Nailsea Tithe Barn.

9th June

A group of TTN members visited inspirational community growing spaces that were a part of the Bristol Big Green Week's 'Get Growing Garden Trail', which provided some ideas that could be used at Gaulacre.

May 2012

Weather permitting a second wildflower planting session will take place on the Golden Valley bridleway on Saturday 19th May between 10 a.m. and noon.

Flower planting has been cancelled for Saturday 14th April. We'll post a new planting date shortly.

We are planting wild flowers on Saturday 7th April and Saturday 14th April weather permitting. This will be on the pathway between Golden Valley School and Trendlewood Way.

As of today, our proposals for orchard, nuttery and growing space are contained in the options on display today at the Tithe Barn!

We have recently submitted a proposal for a Community Orchard/Nut Grove and Growing Space at the Gaulacre site in Nailsea. There is also a display at Nailsea Tithe Barn for one week from Thursday 5th April at which our proposal and those of other interested parties can be viewed.
